It is a hard let go for harmful habits and illnesses even though recovery happens when you are liberated from the cause.
Often something happened in the past to trigger stress that was not released. The memory of the event is what caused the habit or illness which has been carried on in your life as some form of suffering.
A typical reaction, usually at an unconscious level includes the following thoughts
- If I suffer then I am entitled to something to alleviate my suffering
- If I suffer then someone has to pay for this, I have to be compensated
- If I suffer then I get to pass my suffering on to those around me who are helping me..
So the question becomes – how can you let that stress and suffering go? And it is often a hard let go.
I always get suspicious about deeper problems when people tell me they feel entitled. What are they entitled to and why? What is so hard to let go of?
It is interesting to realise that sometimes, deep down if you are honest there are some side benefits from having that habit or illness.
You may be getting extra attention, being looked after, belonging to a group or even getting extra love.
That habit or illness may give you a degree of control over others and that may be enjoyable.
Logic does not help you to sort this out because the reason for the habit and/or illness is held in your unconscious mind and even in all your cells.
This memory in your cells must be released to get the original cause that is remembered out of you.
This is why hypnotherapy is so helpful because it lets your logical mind relax while you access the enormous power of your unconscious mind.
