Where does simmering anger come from is a question we all should be asking right now. The recent election seems to have triggered so much viciousness. This is NOT a comment on which side won or the merits of either… it’s just about the anger let out both before and after.
The thing is that unresolved problems are the cause of fear and anger. Underneath it is about fear. Of course there is also fear and anger resulting from current problems and result but…
…the current problem may only be the latest trigger for an underlying reason for the fear that may even date back to your earliest childhood.
So many people are quick to anger with frequent outbursts or they may have simmering anger which always indicates that there is have a longer-term problem, usually the result of things that happened in often the very distant past… and sometimes something you don’t even remember.
In our current situation a lot of fear has been whipped up by claims of a climate emergency. While this newsletter is about coping with the emotional response, not the science or the politics, it may be worth thinking of a few facts that I find disquieting.
Al Gore, based on science, stated that all the ice in arctic would be melted by 2013 and it has actually increased. The professor at James Cook University who’s research on the Barrier Reef showed that while there was shallow water coral bleaching, the deeper water coral was actually growing was sacked for publishing his contrary views. This lack of academic freedom concerns me.
Personally I accept that client change and overall pollution by humans is affecting the world and I am also disturbed by the impact on our kids of the hysteria being pushed in many schools.
I have solar panels on my new house and had them for many years on my old house, I drive a very small economical car and grow my own veggies. I also try to minimise waste.
I cannot see the need for anger and hysteria about the science of climate while China and India are still increasing their emissions. However there is obviously a need to help calm people down.
It’s about helping people to feel safe, which is obviously a problem for a hysterical child interviewed on TV who believes the world will end in 13 years time. There seems to be simmering anger in many people about being in fear of the future.
If you feel fear, what is the root cause of it? How long have you had fears? Let’s get rid of the early problem that allows the fear and the anger to develop.
