As most of you know, I am a hypnotherapist specialising in helping people to quickly quit anxiety, trauma, smoking and other harmful habits
Habits are hard to change, and some are very hard. Yes, stuff happens, and anxiety and trauma result but you can change how you feel. Some changes can easily be done by yourself by noticing how you really feel and especially what you say to your self in those internal conversations.
Humans generally dislike change but there are times when it is necessary. These changes seem to be coming ever faster in our modern life and this increases stress.
90% of our mind is unconscious and it is always the boss. The thing is that our unconscious mind’s job is to keep us safe and if we believe deep down that the change is not safe, it’s probably not going to happen without a major internal fight or withdrawal symptoms.
However, life does not always give us the no change option. Change keeps happening and it induces lots of stress and anxiety. My own biggest bugbear is software changes… GRRR!
This week I look like having another change. Someone didn’t stop fast enough and drove into the back on me on Friday night and I am waiting to discover the market value of my lovely little car. Yes, it is old, but I feel comfortable in it and I do not want to change. It is on the verge of being written off.
Changes happen and we simply need to convince our unconscious mind that it is safe to change. I my case, with software, I tell myself that the consequences of not changing are worse, with the car, if it does get written off, it is safe to borrow some money to replace it.
So, if you need to change, you need to convince yourself the change is really safe. It is about talking to yourself and actively rejecting the doubts.
Then, if this gets too hard and you feel overwhelmed, just come and see me. Call my receptionist on 1300 883646, call or text me on 0400 318 557 but this does sometimes get delayed or simply book straight in to see me on www.quitquickadelaide.com/book-here
