I’m getting increasing enquiries about covid weight gain and hypnosis for weight loss so let’s set out some reasons for the weight problems.
We all know that there are people, maybe even you, who have put on some Covid weight. I have added a kilo. I can feel it and I know the reason.
So, let’s talk about body weight.
Your weight is much more complex than energy in and energy out. It is controlled by your unconscious mind. Sort that out and your weight will come off steadily and stabilize to suit your body, lifestyle and life stage.
Diets don’t work because your body feels it is being starved and responds by holding on the fat as soon as the starvation ends so you end up on that familiar yoyo.
The alcohol consumption has gone up for many people as well as comfort foods and extra cooking while working from home.
There are 2 main emotional reasons people put on weight on top of the universal need for comfort which from birth has been about putting something in your mouth
1 and unconscious desire to be bigger to prevent the bullying and abuse… a variation of this with early sex abuse is the unconscious desire to be less attractive
2 our cave person ancestors stress threats were famine and cold and more insulation helped here.
Portion sizes as well as food choices contribute to your weight and my mother’s truism that “your eyes were bigger than your stomach” rings very true as we cram more food in.
The thing is that we should not eat more than we can fit in the palm of our hand. So look at your hand and compare it with your plate. You can choose to use a smaller plate.
Some people want a hypnotic gastric band to help them manage portion sizes. Yes, I can do this but as I have worked with 3 people who had surgical gastric bands that did not work, I prefer to work with other areas of your mindset.
I had a huge weight problem for much of my adult life and for me the weight was directly associated with stress and anxiety. When I got rid of this I was able to change my mindset.
I went gradually from over 100kgs to 71 with no diets nor excessive exercise I am now very relaxed about my weight because I trust my body to let me know when it needs changes.
We need to accept and love ourselves as we are. We are all different and we are designed that way.
When you sort out your mindset your weight will come off steadily and stabilize to suit your body and lifestyle and life stage.
